National Statistics Day

September 26, 2018 | Other Activities

September 26 is celebrated as National Statistics Day. Here is the history of the Day of Statistics:
- To meet the UN's recommendations so that each member country holds a population census simultaneously, the Government of Indonesia promulgates Law Number 6 of 1960 concerning the Census as a substitute for the Volkstelling Ordonnantie 1930.
- In order to fulfill the need for the preparation of the planned Universal Development Plan, on 26 September 1960 the Government of Indonesia enacted Law Number 7 of 1960 concerning Statistics as a substitute for the Ordonnantie 193 Statistiek.
- The President of the Republic of Indonesia in August 1996 stipulated the date of the enactment of Law Number 7 of 1960 concerning the Statistics as a "Statistics Day" which was carried out nationally. The reason was that the birth of the Act was the starting point of BPS's journey in filling independence in the field of statistics which had been regulated by the colonial legislative system. Then the Government of Indonesia established Law Number 6 and 7 of 1960 and stipulated a change in the nomenclature of the Central Bureau of Statistics to become the Central Statistics Agency.

In the process of 2018 National Statistics Day, all BPSs from the center to the districts / cities conduct ceremonies
 HSN under the theme:
"With Data, Increase Nation's Achievement"

In the HSN apple at the Central Maluku Regency BPS, acting as an apple coach was the BPS Head of Central Maluku Regency, Ir. Inglis Y Pattipeilohy. As an advisor to the apple, the mother of the District BPS Head read out the speech of the head of the BPS BPS who reminded statistics people, especially BPS staff, to continuously improve the quality of the data produced and maintain independence. Statistics are not just rows of dead numbers on the BPS web or published publications. Conversely, statistical data and information are the basis for making the right target planning, monitoring and evaluating and seeing the development achievements.
